Overview
Kaeme is a 501(c)(3) that partners with the Ghanaian Department of Social Welfare to help children living in orphanages in Ghana find permanent homes through reunification with family members, adoption or foster-care. To accomplish this, Kaeme volunteer teams work hand-in-hand with Ghanaian social workers to survey orphanages across Ghana as part of the government's Care Reform Initiative. These visits capture essential information about each child's history, health, and welfare. The Department of Social Welfare then uses this information collected to create a more permanent care plan for each child. Kaeme was founded in 2008 out of the non-profit incubator, Be a Good Doctor, by Michael McCullough, John Stevens, Marci Stevens, and Jennifer Miller.
