Adrian Pereira

Born in Victoria, BC, Adrian Pereira grew up on a small cul-de sac around the corner from his school. He was raised by two incredibly hard-working parents who immigrated to Canada and to this day model hard work, innovation and creative thinking. As a child, Adrian would spend a significant amount of his time playing street hockey with his brothers and the neighbourhood kids. Many of these friends he continues to play hockey with as an adult.

Adrian attended the University of Victoria majoring in Computer Science. During his years in university, he also worked for UVic, Motorola and the Department of National Defense.

Also while attending UVic, Adrian built one of his first businesses from scratch, HockeyDraft.ca. Tired of manually calculating hockey pool stats using the newspaper, Adrian built a site that would automatically manage all aspects of a hockey pool, saving people hours of weekly work. Almost two decades later, HockeyDraft.ca has been used by millions of Canadians and he continues to run it today, predominantly on auto-pilot.

It is unclear which of his passions is stronger: sports or spreadsheets. These co-passions led him to create another online sports company, eDraft.com, which provides fantasy sports data analytics to fans. Adrian also made an investment and joined the board of a little-known Victoria company called SendToNews. Years later, SendToNews ranks #1 in digital sports video views, ahead of the behemoth, ESPN.

From the early days of internet marketing, he has proved himself to be a quick learner and perpetual student. Adrian’s wife refers to him as a serial entrepreneur – If he has an idea, he educates himself on the topic, figures out how to build it, grow it and bring in people that can help elevate it.

His latest endeavour is a co-venture with his wife, Kelly: The Eco Pea Company. True to form, Adrian built this company from the ground up to resolve a health issue that his daughter was experiencing. She had recurring reactions to numerous diaper brands on the market and his family couldn’t find a solution that worked. Adrian dove in and started researching, testing and and figured out a solution to this need. Now with 4 warehouses in North America and a thriving direct-to-consumer business, Eco Pea Co’s brand is recognized for being natural, safe and environmentally friendly.

He feels incredibly fortunate to be raising his three children in the same beautiful town in which he was raised. Dinner table conversation is often led by his children pitching inventions and ideas. A common theme is how they can make a difference, which is a testament to him as an entrepreneur and a father.
