Aida is the former administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration and was a member of President Clinton’s Cabinet from 1997 to 2001.

Previously, she was founding director of the Office of Federal Housing Enterprise Oversight from 1993 to 1997, where she was responsible for leading the agency with financial oversight for the secondary mortgage market and ensuring the capital adequacy and financial safety and soundness of two government-sponsored enterprises – the Federal National Mortgage Association and the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corporation.

Prior to 1993, she was a Vice President in public finance at First Boston Corporation and Bear Stearns & Co., Inc. She is chair of the Latino Community Foundation of San Francisco and is also a director of UnionBanCal Corporation and Union Bank, N.A., where she began serving in 2004.
