Alex DeFreese

Alex DeFreese is a Security Analyst at Bishop Fox, a security consulting firm providing IT security services to the Fortune 500, global financial institutions, and high-tech startups. In this role, Alex focuses on social engineering, web application penetration testing, and tool development.

Alex has conducted extensive research into email spoofing and technical controls to defend against social engineering. He has also contributed his experience and expertise to the Bishop Fox social engineering methodology project. Alex has presented on the topic of social engineering technical controls at the Atlanta chapter of OWASP and Grey H@t at Georgia Tech.

Prior to joining Bishop Fox, Alex worked as a research engineer at the Georgia Institute of Technology Research Institute. As a research engineer, he performed network and web application penetration tests for private sector clients in addition to conducting vulnerability research.

Alex holds a Bachelor of Science in Computer Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
