Alex Fenkell

Alex Fenkell is the Co-Founder of SmileDirectClub, the pioneer of teledentistry and market-leader in doctor-directed, remote clear aligner therapy. Since founded in 2014, SmileDirectClub is the leader of the direct-to-consumer clear aligner space. Alongside his co-founder and longtime friend, Jordan Katzman, Alex built the business from the ground up. As it continues to grow, Alex is still extremely hands-on and heavily involved in the company’s day-to-day operations.

Prior to founding SmileDirectClub, Alex and Jordan worked to develop several different startups – ranging from car detailing to a payment application program.

Alex and Jordan first met as teenagers at summer camp – where they both had a mouth full of metal braces. Looking back, they knew they could invent a better alternative: SmileDirectClub. Together, they believe everyone deserves a smile they love and are eager to spread their mission of increasing access to care.

Working with over 5,000 employees and with over 300 SmileShop locations now open in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, and Australia, SmileDirectClub has helped over 700,000 people achieve the smile and look they’ve always wanted on their terms - and at a price they can actually afford.

Through SmileDirectClub’s innovative business model, consumers receive treatment directly by mail and through teledentistry services, rather than expensive, tedious, and uncomfortable visits to the orthodontist’s office. To achieve this, SmileDirectClub has partnered with a network of over 200 licensed dentists and orthodontists who review photos of patients’ mouths and medical histories, as well as 3D images of their smiles, to craft custom treatment plans designed to help them achieve straighter teeth on an average of six months or less - and for 60% less than a traditional orthodontic treatment plan.
