Alexander (Sandy) Smart

Alexander (Sandy) Smart has over 30 years' experience of the private equity sector having joined 3i in 1978 where he gained early experience of investment in the SME sector. He then focussed on technology investing with Barclays Development Capital (now Equistone) before joining CVC as a VP and Director, and subsequently PVML (now Silverfleet), investing in larger LBOs / MBOs across all industry sectors.

A notable success was his role as a founding investor in IMP Europe which has subsequently grown into Dialog Semiconductor, a $1.4bn revenue electronics business.

Sandy is a founding partner and CIO of WestBridge Capital, a UK mid market PE Firm and has been a director of numerous technology driven companies. He is chairman of Keronite Group and Energist (Holdings) Limited.

Sandy was previously CEO of a mid market engineering group selling automation products to an international customer base.

He has a joint honours degree in enegineering and economics, an MBA and is a chartered engineer.
