Andrea Mercanti

Andrea Mercanti has over 25 years experience in the biomedical field, both in multinational companies in local and international distribution. During his 18 years with Medtronic (from 1987 to 2004) he held progressive positions in strategic sales in different divisions, including 12 years in Neurological Business Unit with spinal cord stimulation treatment for pain, 2 years in Peripheral Vascular Unit selling Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA) endoprostheses and the Spine Division where he became Director in 2002 managing the integration of the Sofamor Danek team into Medtronic..

After Medtronic he joined Kyphon International as Business Unit Director for Italy, was promoted to Regional Director of South Europe (Italy, France, Spain and Portugal) and, in 2007, Director of the German speaking countries (Germany, Austria and Switzerland). Andrea was responsible for 85% of the total Sales of Kyphon International.

In January 2008 he joined Blackstone Medical (now Orthofix Spine) as VP Sales Europe, to create a European Structure supporting EU sales. April 2009, Andrea became General Director of the Italian subsidiary of MBA Incorporado, one of the largest orthopedic, spine and biomaterial distributors in Europe.

Andrea has a degree in economics from the Technical & Economics School at the Instituto Milano in Milan, Italy.
