Angel Cano Fernandez

Mr. Angel Cano Fernandez serves as President, Chief Operating Officer and Executive Member of the Board of Directors of Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria S.A.

He is also Member of the Executive and Management Committee of the Bank as of 2000. He began his career in 1984 at Arthur Andersen where he stayed for seven years. Between 2006 and 2009, he acted as Director of Resources and Means for the BBVA Group with added responsibilities for the corporate Global Transformation Plan.

Moreover, he served as Director of Resources and Means with responsibility for Technology across the BBVA Group from 2005 till 2006. Between 2003 and 2005, he acted as Director of Human Resources and Services for the BBVA Group and prior to this, as Chief Financial Officer of BBVA from 2001 and 2003. In the past, he served as Controller at Argentaria, from 1998 to 2000, and Assistant Controller, from 1996 to 1998. Moreover, he has served as Alternate Member of the Board of Directors of BBVA Bancomer SA and Grupo Financiero BBVA Bancomer SA de CV, as well as Member of the Board of China Citic Bank Corporation Limited (CNCB) and Turkiye Garanti Bankasi AS.

He graduated in Economics and Business Administration.
