Paulraj is an Emeritus Professor at Stanford University and a pioneer of MIMO (Multiple Input Multiple Output) technology which he proposed in 1992.

Paulraj’s US recognitions for MIMO include the 2018 USPTO National Inventors Hall of Fame, 2014 Marconi Prize and the 2011 IEEE Alexander Graham Bell medal. He is a member of eight National Academies in Eng. and Sciences.

He served in Indian Navy for 25 years where he developed ASW Sonar Technology and founded three National Labs for India.
