Benito Juarez has a strong background and industrial expertise in breeding and genetics, joining SGB following 17 years with Seminis and Monsanto. At Monsanto, he was the lead watermelon breeder responsible for the company's world-wide genetic improvement program, including the DNA fingerprinting of global watermelon germplasm and for the planning and execution of melon and watermelon field experiments in the United States, South America, Mexico, Guatemala, Europe, Australia, North Africa and the Middle East. He was awarded seven patents and developed 12 triploid hybrids and four diploid hybrids of watermelon that continue to be market leaders.
He also has worked for United Genetics and Origene Seeds, LTD. Juarez has a bachelors of science in agronomy and production from Universidad Autonoma de San Luis Potosi and holds a masters of science degree from University of California at Davis in genetics and plant breeding
