Before Opsani, Bert was co-founder and SVP of marketing at 3tera responsible for product definition, company positioning and customer relationships. Prior to 3TERA, Bert was Director of Marketing with SolarFlare Communications, a fabless semiconductor startup developing a transceiver for 10GBASE-T. There he defined the company's product, working with key OEMs including Cisco Systems, Sun, Extreme Networks and Nortel. Before SolarFlare, Bert was co-founder and Director of Marketing for fabric computing startup Topspin Communications. At Topspin, he developed the company's product roadmap for transparently combining LAN, SAN and server area networks into a virtualizable resource pool. Bert also worked with key OEMs including IBM, Sun, Dell and HP. Topspin was acquired by Cisco and became their VFrame product line.

Bert has also held management positions with Nortel, Rapid City Communications, Bay Networks, Cipher Data Products, California Peripherals, CMS Enhancements, and Mobius Technologies.
