Byung Won (BW) Choi

Mr. Byung Won Choi is one of the founding members of STIC and currently the Chief Executive Officer of STIC. Since the establishment of STIC in 1999, Mr. Choi has been involved in all aspects of the investment process, from the sourcing and screening of investments to approving investments as a member of the Investment Committee. In addition, Mr. Choi has devised the foundation for the current investment process and investment risk management at STIC. Mr. Choi accumulated 14 years of experience in the financial industry before joining STIC. He worked for Shinhan Financial Group from 1989 to 1999 where he also served as the director of its investment banking group. Earlier in his career, Mr. Choi was a Corporate Credit Analyst at Korea Exchange Bank. In addition to his role at STIC, Mr. Choi served as an advisor to Seoul National University’s Seoul Techno Holdings, Inc., a technology holding company established by the university in 2008 to commercialize its developed and patented technologies. Additionally, Mr. Choi was appointed by the Ministry of Health & Welfare and served as a member of Pharmaceutical Industry Growth and Support Committee. Presently, he is a board member of ETRI Holdings which was established to support technology commercialization by Korea Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI) to private sectors. Furthermore, Mr. Choi is also a board member of Electronic Times Internet, an electronic newspaper company focusing on information technology in Korea. For his dedication and commitment to improving the venture capital industry in Korea, Mr. Choi received the Industrial Service Medal from President Roh Moo Hyun of Korea in 2007.
