David Dauch

David C. Dauch is Chairman & Chief Executive Officer of American Axle & Manufacturing (AAM). David is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of AAM which include more than 30 locations in 13 countries. He is also responsible for developing and implementing the Company’s operating and strategic objectives as well as providing AAM’s Board of Directors with the vision and insight that is vital to AAM’s strategic plans for the future. David has over 30 years of experience in the automotive industry. He began his automotive career in 1982 as a Manufacturing Co-op student with the former Chrysler Corporation. He continued with Chrysler’s Summer Co-op Program until he completed his bachelor’s degree. In 1987, David joined Collins & Aikman Products Co. where he served as Sales Manager of Ford Programs, receiving the company’s President’s Award for leadership and innovation. David also managed the Toyota and Honda accounts for Collins & Aikman.

In 1995, David joined AAM as Manager of Sales Administration. He was appointed Director of Sales of GM Full-Size Truck Programs in May 1996, and was named Vice President of Sales & Marketing in August 1998. Since 2001, he has served as Vice President of Manufacturing, Driveline Division; Senior Vice President of Sales, Marketing & Driveline Division; Senior Vice President of Commercial; Executive Vice President of Commercial & Strategic Development, Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer and President & Chief Operating Officer. Prior to assuming his current position, he served as President & Chief Executive Officer.

He has served on the Board of Directors of AAM since 2009 and currently serves on the Boards of Business Leaders for Michigan, The Detroit Economic Club, the Detroit Regional Chamber, the Great Lakes Council Boy Scouts of America, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan, and the Amerisure Mutual Holdings, Inc. and the Amerisure Companies. He served on the Collins & Aikman Board of Directors from 2002–2007. David is also a member of the Miami University Business Advisory Council.

David obtained a B.S. degree from Miami University with dual majors: One in production/operations and one in purchasing management. He received an MBA from Michigan State University.

David and his wife, Anita, reside in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan with their four children and are active members of Christ Church Cranbrook.
