Dennis Smith

Dennis is a Founder and Managing Partner at Evolution Equity Partners and is responsible for all aspects of the firm’s global activities and strategic direction. He leads investments in cybersecurity, enterprise software and data analytics and brings over four decades of investment, operational and entrepreneurial experience to his role. Dennis is a member of the firm’s investment committee.

Dennis has founded and invested in technology companies around the world. As a serial entrepreneur and technology executive, he has held senior roles as managing director, head of marketing and sales, VP of solutions, head of systems and design and VP of business development. Dennis founded and led a technology consultancy focused on the diagnosis and remedying of underperforming IT environments in government, banking and finance, manufacturing and public utilities which he exited to PWC. He is a founding investor in NejTV and Sixty-K where he is chairman of the board and he holds various executive and non-executive roles. He is an investor and board member in category-defining software companies like AVG Technologies, OpenDNS, Cognitive Security, Carbon Black, Security Scorecard, Onapsis, LogPoint, DFLabs, Fortscale and Panaseer.

Dennis holds a B.A. from York University, Toronto and a Tertiary Diploma in Computer Programing from Humber College Institute of Technology, Toronto. He is a member of the board at Endeavour.
