Gil Shalev

Gil Shalev is the Founder of SmartBee. Gil previously worked at Hazera Seeds as a Tomato Pre Breeding Manager. He attended The Hebrew University of Jerusalem.

Gil Shalev is the driving force behind Equinom, and the founder of the company. Prior to establishing Equinom, he held senior roles at Hazera Genetics and Vilmorin & Cie. Gil earned his PhD in Plant Genetics at the Faculty of Agriculture, Hebrew University of Jerusalem. Gil expertise in plant genomics and breeding, includes scientific achievements in the development of an integrated sequencing technology in breeding, and the discovery of new genes and gene combinations in tomato and pepper, some of which are protected by intellectual property (IP) rights.
