Gunnart Weikert

Dr. Gunnart Weikert, MD, Ph.D., MBA is the Founder, Chief Executive Officer, Managing Partner, and Chairman of Inventages Venture Capital Investment Inc. Dr. Weikert was previously a Partner at Inventages Venture Capital Investment. He serves as the Chief Executive Officer and President at Life Ventures by Nestlé. Dr. Weikart is also employed at BioPacific Ventures LP and Direct Capital Private Equity Ltd. He has more than 10 years of experience in a broad spectrum of functions within the pharmaceutical and biotech industry. Dr. Weikert also oversaw venture investments in technology companies that produced more than $1.1 billion in profits and increased research and development productivity by a factor of six. In his last position, Dr. Weikert served as a Senior Vice President and Global Head for Life Science Deals at Bayer AG. While at Bayer, he oversaw and crystallized venture investments in technology companies and collaborations representing some of the biggest deals between big-pharma and biotechnology in the late 1990's. Dr. Weikert serves as a Member of Advisory Board of Bionest Partners. He has been a Director of Phytomedics Inc., since April 2006; and OM Foods Ltd., since February 2008. He serves as Member of Scientific and Business Advisory Board at Technologie BiolActis Inc. Dr. Weikert serves as a Member of the Board of Directors of Nestlé Health Science S.A., GC-Rise Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., Accera, Inc., Horizon Science Pty Limited, Shield Holdings AG, MSI Methylation Sciences Inc., and Honest Tea. He served as Director of DiObex, Inc., Cognoptix, Inc., and SelectX Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Dr. Weikert served as a Non-executive Director at CM&D Pharma Limited. He served as Director of Galileo Pharmaceuticals, Inc., since March 2003. He received a Ph.D. degree in the field of Metabolism and Medical Sciences from University of Düsseldorf, an M.D. degree, and an M.B.A. degree.
