John Stephens

John joined Pomona in 2011 and is based in Hong Kong, where he focuses on Pomona’s business in Asia. Prior to Pomona, he co-founded and was managing partner of EM Alternatives, a private equity fund-of-funds investing in Asia and emerging markets. He also was a senior investment analyst with Global Environment Fund, an investor in clean energy, forestry, and infrastructure projects in emerging markets. He began his international career at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow. John serves on the Asia Council of the Emerging Markets Private Equity Association. He received an MBA from the Tuck School at Dartmouth College, and a BA from the University of Washington.
