Jose Bolaños

José is Managing Partner at Cometa (formerly VARIV Capital), a venture capital firm that invests in early-stage technology companies doing business in Latin America.Before VARIV, José was the Managing Director of the Mexican Chapter of Cognodata, a Spanish consultancy focused on developing mathematical and analytic models directed to improving the customer strategy of key clients. Previously, José worked as Case Team Leader in Bain & Company, a strategy consultancy, leading financial services, retail, consumer goods and oil & gas projects. José also has six years of experience in CEMEX, the world leader in construction materials, where he acted as Commercial Project Leader for the Europe-Asia division, followed by a position as Commercial Planning Regional Manager for the Mexico division, and finally as Financial Planning Manager of its+US$2Billion Mexican operation. José holds an MBA with a specialization in Finance from INSEAD in France, as well as executive education in PE/VC from Harvard Business School.
