Bio
Koos Bekker (62) led the founding team of the M-Net/MultiChoice pay-television business in 1985.
He was also a founder of the cellular telephony, MTN. Bekker headed the MIH group in its international and internet expansion until 1997 when he became chief executive of Naspers. He serves on the boards of other companies in the wider group, as well as on various public bodies. On 31 March 2014 he retired as chief executive of Naspers and stepped down from the board. On 17 April 2015 he was reappointed to the Naspers board and succeeded Vosloo as non-executive chair.
His academic qualifications include: BAHons plus an honorary doctorate in commerce (Stellenbosch University), an LLB (University of the Witwatersrand) and an MBA (Columbia University, New York).
