Bio

Leong Fang joined Ryerson in 2013 as chief executive officer for the company’s Asia region. He is responsible for leading the company’s operations in China, as well as optimizing operations and supply chain performance companywide through adoption of best practices in technology and analytics.

Leong brings 30 years of industry experience to Ryerson. Prior to joining Ryerson, he held a variety of leadership positions within The Timken Company, including leading its global aerospace and industrial machinery businesses, and was president of the company’s China division for approximately six years where he oversaw approximately 4,000 employees in multiple locations and led the company’s rapid growth into the wind energy, rail and heavy industry markets in China.

Leong has a Bachelor of Science honors degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Glasgow, U.K., and a master’s degree in mechanical engineering and applied machinery from the University of Rhode Island. In 2011, he received Modern Metalworking Magazine’s “People of the Year” award. He also serves as an active board member with the U.S.-China Energy Cooperation Program and Junior Achievement China.
