Mark Modica

Mark Modica is a managing director for the Technology Group in Hercules’ Mclean, Virginia office. Modica has over 25 years of experience in sales, operations and finance with private and public technology companies providing cloud computing, big data analytics, mobility and security products and services. Over the course of his career, Modica raised over $500M in debt and equity, worked with over 50 venture capital firms and has taken several companies public including APACHE Medical Systems (acquired by Cerner).

Before joining Hercules in 2013, Modica was the chief financial officer and chief commercial officer at Pivot3, where he raised more than $75M in venture capital and venture debt, and led the company to market leadership worldwide Prior to Pivot 3, Modica served as CFO for several technology companies including Digital Sandbox (acquired by Haystax), and Digital Bridge Communications. He has also served as the CEO and co-founder of CyberCFO, a partner at Avansis Ventures, where he led investments in StoredIQ (acquired by IBM) and Trust Digital (acquired by McAfee). He has been on the Boards of Directors or Boards of Advisors of multiple technology companies.

Modica began his career at Deloitte and Touche in Boston and Washington DC and is a Certified Public Accountant. He holds a B.S. in Political Science from Trinity College and a Masters in Accounting from Northeastern University. Modica is currently a Coach in Cooley Godward’s “Capital Call” funding program and is a founding member of the Host Committee of the High Tech Prayer Breakfast-DC Metro.
