Michael Mao

• With 19 years of experience working in China’s venture capital industry, Mr. Michael Mao has witnessed the industry going from scratch to high-speed growth. He has long focused on early and mid-term investment opportunities in the fields of mobile internet, fintech, AI, industrial Internet and consumption upgrading, and invested in almost 100 outstanding Chinese startups. In addition, he has rich experience in the capital operations and business analysis of startups. Mr. Michael Mao has played a leading role in various iconic investment projects

• Before founding Yunqi Partners, Mr. Michael Mao worked at IDG Captial, the earliest venture capital institution in China from 1999 to 2014, serving as its partner and investment decision committee member and etc. In 2014, Mr. Michael Mao and Mr. Yipin Ng co-founded Yunqi Partners.

• Prior to joining IDG Captial, Mr. Michael Mao worked at Unilever Group, taking charge of its financial and business analysis in Greater China. He holds an EMBA from Tsinghua UniversityPBC School of Finance, an MBA from CEIBS and a Bachelor’s degree in engineering from Shanghai Jiaotong University.

• In 2017, Mr. Michael Mao won “Best Venture Capitalist in China” granted by Forbes.

• During his spare time, Mr. Michael Mao is a sports fan, with basketball and tennis as his hobbies. He also likes history, reading and travel.
