Michael Pollan is an American author, journalist, activist, and professor of journalism at the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Journalism.

He has published many culinary books, including The Omnivore’s Dilemma, Cooked, Food Rules: Illustrated Edition, In Defense of Food, The Omnivore’s Dilemma: Young Readers Edition, and The Botany of Desire as well as A Place of My Own and Second Nature for gardeners.

Pollan received a B.A. in English from Bennington College in 1977 and an M.A. in English from Columbia University in 1981.
