Mike Payne

Mike has a 20-year career in healthcare, working across almost every sector and with companies of all sizes. Mike is known as an innovator in the commercialization of evidence-based, digitally-empowered health interventions. Mike currently serves as the Head of Commercial & Policy at venture-backed chronic disease-focused startup Virta Health. Prior to Virta, Mike created and grew the commercial strategy and operations of Omada Health, the country’s largest and most innovative digital behavioral medicine company, which focuses on diabetes prevention. As Omada’s first Chief Commercial Officer and later, Chief Healthcare Development Officer, Mike was responsible for the company’s work with Health Plans and risk-bearing Health Systems, Employers, Government & Medical Policy, Medical Affairs, Corporate Strategy, and Business Development. Mike led Omada’s efforts to secure Medicare reimbursement for digitally-delivered Diabetes Prevention Programs (DPP), announced in early 2016. Mike previously worked at Gilead Sciences and McKinsey & Company, and holds an MBA from Stanford Business School as well as an MSci in Health Services Research from Stanford Medical School.
