Professor Nam-Hai Chua is Andrew W. Mellon Professor and Head of the Laboratory of Plant Molecular Biology at the Rockefeller University since 1981.

He is a fellow of the Royal Society of the United Kingdom, a Foreign Academician of the China Academy of Sciences and of the Academia Sinica in Taiwan. Professor Chua was a Director of Delta and Pine Land (USA) from 1993 until it was sold to Monsanto in 2007.

He was also a director of Arpida Ltd (Munchenstein, Switzerland) from 2004-2008 and served as chairman of its compensation committee from 2006-2008.

He has been a director of Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory, Singapore, and chairman of its Strategic Research Program since 2003 and was appointed Deputy Chairman, Management Board of Temasek Life Sciences Laboratory in October 2012.

Dr Chua received his Ph.D. from Harvard University.
