Patrick Joseph Walker

After 20 years building and launching some of the world’s most innovative digital video services, Patrick committed himself to the future of learning as the Co-Founder of Uptime, alongside seasoned entrepreneurs Jamie True and Jack Bekhor. Uptime's mission is to inspire people everywhere to learn, grow and contribute to a better world.

Before founding Uptime, Patrick was Director of Media Partnerships at Facebook and Instagram, leading content partnerships with media companies and public figures in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Patrick began his career in international media and technology as a TV producer for Japan’s public broadcaster, NHK. While living in Tokyo, he produced and directed award-winning educational and documentary TV programs and participated in the launch of the world’s first HDTV channel. He later joined the BBC as a Senior Broadcast Journalist in Japan and South East Asia where he used new technologies to tell stories from often extremely hostile environments.

Patrick moved to London in 2000 to launch early stage digital video services, and became YouTube’s first international employee. He went on to spend eight years with Google and YouTube as the senior director of content partnerships, where he was responsible for launching and managing YouTube across Europe, the Middle East and Africa. Patrick was also a founding investor and Chief Content Officer of Europe’s largest multi-channel network, Base79, and served as the CEO of Rightster, a leading content and audience development partner of YouTube and Facebook.

Patrick holds a B.A. in Journalism from the University of Southern California and an M.Ed in Administration, Planning and Social Policy from the Harvard Graduate School of Education.

He currently lives in London with his family and regular escapes to the Scottish Highlands to connect with nature and digitally detox.
