Peter Brown

Peter Brown is the chairman and founder of Grassmere Partners, LLC, a Kansas City-based private investment firm that he began in 2009. Prior to founding Grassmere Partners, Brown was chairman, chief executive officer and president of AMC Entertainment Inc, one the world’s leading theatrical exhibition companies. During his tenure as CEO, from July 1999 until his retirement in February 2009, revenues grew from $1 billion to $2.3 billion. He successfully led AMC through both public and private ownership, and several key acquisitions and innovations that transformed it from a family-run enterprise into a Fortune 1000 company. While at AMC, Brown was involved in several entertainment industry organizations and received numerous community and industry distinctions.

Brown currently serves as a director of three public companies and one private company: CenturyLink (NYSE: CTL), a Fortune 500 provider of communications services; Entertainment Properties Trust (NYSE: EPR), a real estate investment trust that he founded in 1997; Cinedigm Digital Cinema Corporation (NASDAQ; CIDM), a leading provider of digital technology, services and content to entertainment companies; and EcoFit Lighting, LLC, a manufacturer of LED lighting products.

Past public and private company boards on which he has served include: National CineMedia, Inc.; Midway Games, Inc.; LabOne, Inc.; Protection One, Inc.; MovieTickets.com; Digital Cinema Implementation Partners, LLC; and American State Bank.

A leader in the Kansas City civic community, Brown currently serves on the board of Swope Community Enterprises and the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce. Previous community boards served on include The Advancement Board of the University of Kansas Medical Center and the University of Kansas Hospital, The Advisory Board of the School of Business at the University of Kansas, the Civic Council of Greater Kansas City, the University of Missouri-Kansas City, the Kansas City Art Institute, and Rockhurst High School.

A native of Kansas City, Brown earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from the University of Kansas. He and his wife, Kate, have been married 30 years and have six children and three grandchildren.
