Tahir Qazi

Mr. Tahir Qazi is a senior telecommunications and information technology executive with extensive coast-to-coast and international business experience in telecommunications and Information Technology businesses. His 20-year employment history includes positions as Regional Director, Vice President, and CEO with such entities as Cingular Wireless, AT&T, Comcast, and iQuasar.

Mr. Qazi is particularly adept in successfully leading multi-functional areas – from strategy, planning, and development to operations. He does this by providing the kind of strategic vision and meticulous management direction that consistently lead to exceptional individual and team performance.

As Regional Director of Network Engineering, Mr. Qazi was asked to lead the development and deployment of $150M switching and transport network in the Northeast region of Cingular Wireless. To management’s delight, this resulted in significant capacity and cost savings for the company. On the heels of that success, Mr. Qazi was asked to take on the core network planning for the emerging third generation wireless network of Cingular Wireless. After a successful launch, Mr. Qazi developed the core network architecture strategy for AT&T. He moved to work on the systems strategy for Comcast’s Business Services division and worked on various initiatives geared towards creating systems capacity used to deliver $1 Billion in annual revenue.

In prior positions, Mr. Qazi has led the engineering, operations, project management, product development, and systems delivery functions. Often times, the performance resulted in business transformation efforts utilizing new systems and new technology. Mr. Qazi credits his good fortune, in selecting a career in technology, to his mentors who recognized his ability to be a visionary contributor in the fast paced telecommunications and Information Technology industries. Such capabilities have further contributed to his success at his new company, iQuasar.

Mr. Qazi is a graduate of National Institute of Technology, Srinagar, India, and earned his M.S. from Virginia Tech. He also holds an M.B.A. from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. Currently, he is serving as the CEO of iQuasar, a for-profit technology company trying to create shared value in the communities where iQuasar conducts business. iQuasar is working to shatter the barriers between for-profit and nonprofit characterizations of a company. Mr. Qazi is also serving as the President of Kashmir Education Initiative, a nonprofit organization dedicated to help Kashmiri students achieve excellence through quality education and to focus their energies to become productive, proud and equal members of the global community.
