Bio

As Chief Operating Officer, Tim Fenton oversees business operations for more than 35,000 McDonald’s restaurants in more than 100 countries. He also has responsibility for Global Supply Chain, Restaurant Operations, Franchising and Development.

Previously, Fenton served for seven years as President, McDonald’s Asia, Pacific, Middle East and Africa, where he was accountable for the 38 countries and more than 8,800 McDonald’s restaurants in this region.

Before that, Fenton served as President, East Division, for McDonald's USA, where he oversaw more than 5,200 restaurants in the eastern United States, covering eight geographical regions in 21 states.

Prior to this, Fenton served as vice president and managing director of the Middle East Development Company, in which he was responsible for 300 restaurants in 11 countries throughout the Middle East, Turkey and Greece. He then went on to serve as senior vice president of Southeast Asia/Middle East/Africa. He was responsible for 1,300 restaurants in 22 countries throughout Southeast Asia/Middle East/Africa and oversaw market and brand development, restaurant operations, sales growth, financial performance, and management development.

Fenton, a 39-year veteran of McDonald’s, began his company career in 1973 as a crew member in Utica, N.Y. He held several restaurant and operations positions, including operations manager of the South Florida Region, field service manager of the Kansas City Region, and director of operations, operations training, security, and purchasing in the same region.

In 1990, Fenton was promoted to a director for Asia Pacific and, from 1992 to 1995, he served as managing director for McDonald’s Poland and vice president of McDonald’s Central Europe North.

During his time in Poland, Fenton served as vice president of American Chamber of Commerce in Warsaw, and in 1994 and 1995, he was on the Board of Directors for Friends of Luetefska Children’s Hospital, also in Warsaw.

Fenton has been recognized throughout his career at McDonald’s, starting with his contributions as a restaurant manager. In 1979, he was awarded Manager of the Year. Later in his career, he was awarded Albany Region Outstanding Contributor. He also won McDonald’s International Profit Achievement Award in 1995.

Tim, his wife Joan, and their three sons live outside Chicago.
