Tim Murawski is the president and chief commercial officer for Augmedics, a Chicago-area company developing medical devices to bring augmented reality technology to spinal surgery.
Murawski is a longtime business leader and specialist in biotechnology. Prior to joining Augmedics in June 2019, he served in multiple leadership roles for medical device companies.
Previously, Tim Murawski worked for Mazor Robotics for 10 years in increasingly complex roles for the Caesarea, Israel, medical device company. He began at Mazor as a regional sales director, before becoming a regional account manager and, in January 2016, vice president of U.S. accounts. After serving in that role for 18 months, he became vice president of global renaissance business in August 2017.
At Mazor, he played a critical role in growing the company prior to its $1.6 billion acquisition by Medtronic in 2018.
Murawski graduated from Western Illinois University with a bachelor’s degree in operations management and supervision. He started his career working at a research and development facility for a large chemical company’s purchasing department.
Tim Murawksi soon realized he would prefer a career in sales. His career in medical devices sales started at Baxter International Inc. as a territory sales manager in the IV sales department. There, he sold the company’s innovative needleless IV products.
In the early 1990s, such products were vital to health care professionals treating HIV and AIDS patients to prevent accidental needle sticks. He saw the profound impact of selling transformational technologies that would enhance safety and quality of life.
In September 1996, Tim Murawski joined his first start-up company, General Surgical Innovations, based in Cupertino, California. He began as a territory sales manager and, in January 1998, was named sales manager for the West region.
Tim Murawski’s impact on the surgical robotics field has been significant. At Intuitive Surgical, he played a pivotal role in growing the robotic surgery market. He joined the company in August 2000 first as an account manager and later as area sales manager and area sales director.
In 2008, he joined Hansen Medical, a Mountain View, California-based medical robotics as director of national accounts and vice president of sales.
Tim Murawski was born and raised in Chicago. In his free time, he enjoys waterskiing, tennis, yard work, and spending time with family.
