Veena Avadhanam

Veena has been with Mumbai Angels for nearly two years. She heads the Deal flow activities for Mumbai Angels and along with her team is responsible for the screening through closing of all new deals at MA.

Veena has over 15 years of experience in Strategic, Operational and Advisory roles in the Technology industry, mainly in the US.

For the past three years Veena has been engaged in the startup ecosystem in Bangalore, before Mumbai Angels as a consultant as Kalaari as well as a mentor at NSRCEL-IIMB. Prior to moving to India, she was a Senior Manager in Symantec’s Corporate Development group, based out of Mountain View, CA, where she worked on transformative strategic projects; in addition to prioritizing and executing transactions. She was also responsible for the Symantec Venture Portfolio. Before Symantec, she worked for Hyperion (now part of Oracle), defining the Product Marketing strategy for a new FRM product, prior to which she worked for AT&T’s Corporate Finance group and in Citi Group’s Investment Banking Division. Veena has also worked for several years in Technology consulting at Deloitte, CGN & Associates and Infosys, designing and building solutions for clients in various industries.

Veena holds an MBA from Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business and an undergrad in Computer Science and Engineering from Mysore University. She has also been a CFA charter holder since 2006.

Besides reading about industry trends and current research in behavioral finance & psychology, Veena enjoys a variety of fiction and non-fiction literature. She also enjoys music and traveling.
